Tentakull

Octopean Barbarians of the Sea

Homeland: middling waters of the Aracor Ocean

Language: Commontongue

Widely considered the scum of the sea, the octopean Tentakull comprise an anarchist society in which theft, murder, and other violent acts are commonplace. Unlike regular octopuses, Tentakull cannot squirt ink or camouflage themselves; they do, however, employ unique methods of underwater communication, either bubbling words to a single recipient or flashing their rings to communicate with groups. Tentakull come in two colors: males are teal or turquoise with blue rings, whereas females are red-skinned with yellow rings.

Aside from mating, female Tentakull possess a special means of reproduction—they can split off a tentacle, which will eventually develop into an independent daughter. Because this process often kills the mother, it is rarely performed. A sparse handful of Tentakull have also been known to harness Deepmagic, but their abilities tend to attract the jealous hatred of other Tentakull, so few sorcerers survive for long.
