Tentakull

Octopean Barbarians of the Sea

Homeland: Aracor Ocean

Language: Common

Widely considered the scum of the sea, Tentakull live in an anarchist society in which theft, murder, and other violent acts are commonplace. These chaotic creatures resemble ringed octopuses, but lack the ability to squirt ink or camouflage themselves. Instead, Tentakull come in two colors according to gender: males have teal or turquoise skin with blue rings, while females have red skin with yellow rings. Tentakull employ unique methods of communication underwater, bubbling words to a single recipient or else flashing their rings to communicate with groups. Female Tentakull, aside from normal mating, possess a special means of reproduction—they are able to split off an arm which will eventually grow into an independent daughter, though because this process often kills the mother Tentakull, it is rarely performed. Although a sparse handful of Tentakull have been known to harness Deepmagic, their uncommon abilities tend to attract the jealous hatred of other Tentakull, so few sorcerers survive for long.
