Renowned throughout the Twelve Realms as warriors of justice, the Lightvian are a people of magical power and moral integrity. Though they superficially resemble humans, Lightvian are set apart by their inhuman beauty, spiritual abilities, and immunity to illness and physical aging. Theirs is the most orderly civilization in the Twelve Realms, governed by five elected leaders and a high priest. Although most Lightvian never leave their homeland, skilled members of their society are tasked with journeying throughout the Realms to slay syvatri (accursed evildoers), seal oaths between foreign powers, and heal victims of injustice—sacred duties performed in service to Seviar, the Incandescent Deity.
As a people, Lightvian dress in yellow-white robes and dwell in cities built from pale stone. Each individual specializes in one of six elements (fire, water, ice, electricity, earth, or wind) and wields a dragon-forged weapon of white metal. While touching their bonded weapons, Lightvian can work magic freely throughout the Twelve Realms; otherwise, their power is limited to the Lightlands. In addition to elemental magic, every Lightvian commands one of three secondary powers: sealing, truthtelling, or healing. Acts of Lightvian magic are referred to as "bindings."
Two and a half decades ago, the Lightvian's reputation suffered an unprecedented blow when their finest warrior, Octavious Silrian, fell to syvatrihood. His murderous flight across the Twelve Realms spread terror to every race, staining his people's honor with blood and cementing his legacy as the worst syvatri in recorded history. To this day, the Lightvian still labor to heal the harm left beneath his shadow.
