Bramburri

Wild Foragers of the Woods

Homeland: western forest

Languages: Hapha

A fiercely territorial people, bramburri resemble bipedal boars who habitually wrap themselves in thorns, ivy, and poisonous foliage. Their thick, leathery skin protects them from most superficial harm, while their tusks provide dangerous natural weapons often aided by wood-and-stone spears. Since bramburri are about half as tall as humans, they can navigate beneath low-hanging branches and through underbrush with ease. Tribes of bramburri follow warring chieftains, loosely united under a chief-king, who consolidates his power through conquest and maintains it through might. Though bramburri retain the primal moral dictates of Tephrana, the law of the forest, their social status is established primarily through victories over rivals—prizing brute cunning and strength over compassion. Frequent skirmishes break out between bramburri and neighboring Taphe bands, as bramburri often poach Taphes' game.
